Cameron Waters has completed an eventful speedway week with a heat victory and career-best feature performances.

The Tickford Racing driver, who is taking to the speedway to keep himself sharp, won Heat 4 on Monday at Simpson Speedway.

He later started fifth and finished sixth in the feature race, marking his best starting and finishing positions in a Sprint Car feature race to date.

It came after the 27-year-old was involved in an accident involving Tim Hutchin and Jack Lee at Avalon Speedway on Boxing Day.

Waters was tipped onto his side in the accident, but returned the following day to record his best speedway performances of the summer.

The five-time Supercars race winner pipped Daniel Petska and Mitchell Smith to victory in Monday’s heat.

He earned passage into the evening A-Main feature race, which featured 18 cars and was completed over 30 laps.

"A great night at Simpson Speedway in my Chief Racing Maxim, won my heat after a strong run then matched my PB with sixth in the A-Main final,” said Waters, who returned in Warrnambool last week.

"An excellent result for the team after the dramas of the previous night, and already looking forward to my next outing.”

Corey McCullagh won the A-Main feature ahead of Tate Frost, Jacob Smith, Petska and Grant Anderston.

Waters will return to the dirt at Avalon Speedway on December 30.

He will make his competitive return aboard his Monster Energy Tickford Mustang at the Repco Newcastle 500 in March. Tickets for the event are on sale now.

The 13-round draft calendar was released during the Repco Bathurst 1000 weekend.
