Twice being able to sustain heavy pressure made Cam Waters’ dual Winton wins "more special".

Waters was forced to deny a racy Shane van Gisbergen at least weekend’s Pizza Hut Winton SuperSprint.

The combined victory margin of both wins was 0.8s.

Races 13 and 15 boiled down to final-lap showdowns; the Saturday race featured final-corner contact.

Speaking after Sunday’s race, Waters explained his satisfaction in the result given how hard he was pushed.

"100 per cent," Waters replied when asked if the wins felt sweeter.

SVG's bold final-corner pass attempt

"It makes you feel like you’ve actually earned it if you’re racing Shane.

"And you’re not lucked in by someone else running off the road.

"If you can win that way, it’s a little bit more special."

The wins were the first for Tickford Racing since Waters won in Townsville last July.

Waters moved up to third in the championship, and is within striking distance of second-placed Anton De Pasquale.

The Tickford spearhead reiterated that there was no silver bullet; rather, Tickford finally got to enjoy the fruits of its labour.

It came after victory was taken away from Waters in Perth due to a penalty, leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of all at Tickford.

Waters’ engineer later told Supercars.com pre-Winton that he was ready to harness Waters’ frustration and turn it into results.

It came to fruition, Waters winning two races on the same weekend for just the second time in his career.

"Just hard work, really," Waters said said.

"The team has been putting in a massive amount of work to try and get the car faster and faster, and work on the race pace.

"I feel like we’re getting there with it.

"Massive shout out to all the guys who have dug deep to get the car speedy."

The season will resume at the Merlin Darwin Triple Crown on June 17-19. Purchase your tickets now.
