Van Gisbergen, Ricciardo star in Aussie road trip video

Shane van Gisbergen and Bathurst have starred in a unique ‘Aussie road trip’ clip headlined by Grand Prix winner Daniel Ricciardo.

The nine-minute feature, produced by Red Bull, sees Ricciardo put a championship-winning RB7 Formula 1 car to the test Down Under.

The video has been released ahead of this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix, where Supercars will conduct the Beaurepaires Melbourne SuperSprint.

From the beaches to the outback, the RB7 is put through the wringer, with van Gisbergen leading the F1 around Mount Panorama.

Van Gisbergen piloted a Red Bull Ampol-liveried Chevrolet Camaro, with filming completed at last month’s LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour.

Red Bull-backed Kiwi open wheel driver Liam Lawson also drove the RB7 at Mount Panorama during the 12 Hour weekend.

Ricciardo’s road trip sees the Australian met by off-road rider Daniel Sanders, before a pit stop is undertaken in Broken Hill.

From there, the RB7 is welcomed to the Sea Cliff Bridge by veteran aerobatic pilot Matt Hall.

Aussie off-road star and Dakar winner Toby Price also features in the video.

The Mount Panorama segment of the clip sees Jamie Whincup summon Ricciardo to the track, where he joins van Gisbergen.

The entire video is available to view on the Oracle Red Bull Racing YouTube channel.

Ricciardo, the team’s third driver, was excited to return home to Australia for this weekend’s Grand Prix.

The 33-year-old also recently drove a Ford Mustang Supercar at the brand’s Michigan test track.

"Aussie fans always bring a lot of energy and I’m excited to see the F1 fans in Melbourne,” Ricciardo said.

“The track is looking great, and I’m hoping our road trip research gives the team the edge they need.

"To be back home, taking the RB7 across the Aussie outback, and sharing the best Australia has to offer with the world.

“What better way to celebrate my first F1 event at home since returning to Oracle Red Bull Racing.”

The Supercars and F1 seasons will resume this weekend at Albert Park.
