Members of the V8 Supercars Commission met today following an incidentinvolving Craig Lowndes in yesterday's second race of the ITM 500Auckland.
It agreed to increase tyre pressures for today's race at Pukekohe ParkRaceway from 17 to 18psi. Teams will also be required to start the raceon soft tyres and must change tyres during refuelling.
V8 Supercars Sporting and Technical Director David Stuart saidfollowingyesterday's tyre failure, it had considered all possible contributingfactors.
"This is a fast circuit with high loadings and its bumps and kerbs areall contributing factors to tyre failure. To minimise that risk andensure fair racing for all teams we have decided to make these changesfor today's race," he said.
