Tickets for the NTI Townsville 500 have officially gone on sale today, just over four months out from the sixth round of the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship season.

This year marks the 15th consecutive season Australasia’s premier racing category has visited Townsville, and will be the 17th race event held at the hybrid street circuit at Reid Park after it hosted back-to-back race events in 2020 and 2021.

The championship’s visit to Far North Queensland is part of its mid-season northern swing, where fans and teams escaping winter in the southern states are commonly met with sunshine and door-to-door action throughout the weekend.

“The NTI Townsville 500 is one of the marquee events on the Repco Supercars Championship calendar,” said Mark Pejic, Supercars Chief Strategy & Revenue Officer.

“The climate and event are among the best our championship visits all year and a perfect fit in that mid-season window when many fans are looking for a winter getaway.

“The circuit always puts on sensational racing, and taking place in the shadow of Castle Hill makes for some of the most stunning sights we see all season long.

"Townsville has long been a favourite event among fans and teams alike, and we cannot wait to head back up to Far North Queensland later this year.”

The NTI Townsville 500 has the impressive record of being run continuously since its inaugural event in 2009, held on a 2.86-kilometre hybrid circuit which is part permanent and party city streets.

Much like his dominant 2022 Repco Supercars Championship campaign, Triple Eight’s Shane van Gisbergen won both legs of last year’s NTI Townsville 500 in style.

“We are thrilled to continue our support of the NTI Townsville 500 in 2023, the largest annual sporting event in North Queensland,” said Jason Kibsgaard, Head of Marketing at NTI.

“Townsville has been a fantastic host to Supercars over the years, and we always enjoy heading north every July for the event.

“Being a major hub for industry and transportation, Townsville offers a natural connection to NTI and our range of insurance services, allowing us to more closely engage with people and businesses in the area, which is a real positive.

“We also aim to give back by heavily activating with our charity partners at the NTI Townsville 500 with raffles, giveaways, and other fundraising initiatives, meaning the team in victory lane isn’t the only winner on the day.

“We’re really looking forward to this year’s NTI Townsville 500, and can’t wait for the exciting 2023 Supercars season to get underway.”

The NTI Townsville 500 takes place July 7-9 on streets around Townsville’s Reid Park.

Supercars fans will not have to wait as long this year to get their racing fix, as the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship begins next weekend with the Thrifty Newcastle 500, March 10-12.
