Todd Hazelwood’s Matt Stone Racing Holden will sport major backing from SP Tools at the PIRTEK Perth SuperNight.

The #35 ZB Commodore has been decked out in a variant of the livery Maro Engel’s Erebus Motorsport Mercedes-AMG ran in 2013.

SP Tools was a major sponsor at Stone Brothers Racing and then Erebus from 2008-13, before a spell at the Holden Racing Team.

MSR, whose founder Matt Stone is the son of SBR co-founder Jimmy, has enjoyed minor backing from the company for several seasons.

The Hazelwood entry is among those to feature special additions for the night event at Barbagallo, with blue lighting inside its grille and cabin.

“It’s great to have the SP Tools brand making a reappearance on the side of a Supercar,” said Matt Stone.

“We are proud to showcase this striking livery under lights at Barbagallo to celebrate our ongoing relationship.”

Coincidently, Supercars’ lighting test on Monday night also featured SP Tools-backed machinery, with Alex Rullo piloting a locally-sourced Holden track car sporting the brand’s colours.

Hazelwood has enjoyed a strong start to 2019 with the team’s newly-purchased, ex-Jamie Whincup Commodore and Triple Eight support package.

The 23-year-old has recorded three top 10 qualifying performances, two of which came last time out at Phillip Island, and a best finish of 10th on the Sunday of the Adelaide opener.

Hazelwood is currently 18th in the championship, eight places higher than he finished his rookie 2018 season, which included a mid-year switch from Ford to Holden.
