Craig Lowndes is on target for his 100th win in V8 Supercars/Australian Touring Car Championship history, starting this afternoon's 84-lap race from ARMOR ALL Pole Position.

The Red Bull racer has been unstoppable at Symmons Plains this weekend, a track where he traditionally performs well, and in the 20-minute qualifying session David Reynolds came closest to his 51.797sec lap, just 0.048sec away in the Bottle-O FG X Falcon. Reynolds will start alongside Lowndes on the front row.

Lowndes called the result a dream come true and uttered some scary words for his competitors - he believes there's even more speed in the car.

"The car was fantastic yesterday - I actually didn't think we got the best out of our car today in qualifying, but it was good enough to be up there," Lowndes said.

"Everyone probably didn't do ultimate lap - for me, I didn't quite get turn four right - but saying that, the rest of the corners were pretty good!

"I'm happy, the guys are delighted, but now we've got to focus on the 84 laps."

His teammate Jamie Whincup came home third, just 0.055sec off the pole time, with Erebus' Will Davison - who is looking for redemption on track today - in fourth.

Shane van Gisbergen, Chaz Mostert, Andre Heimgartner, Garth Tander, Mark Winterbottom and Jason Bright completed the top 10.

Holden Racing Team's James Courtney is back in 12th, and holding a 28-point gap to Lowndes in the Championship, he will have to push hard to retain his points lead in the 200km race.
