Shane van Gisbergen will start today’s Supercars season finale from 21st, having been among three drivers to receive a post-qualifying grid penalty.

Van Gisbergen, James Golding and Will Davison have all been handed three-place penalties for impeding rivals during the 20-minute ARMOR ALL Qualifying session.

The Red Bull Holden Racing Team ace held up Will Davison at Turn 11 as the Milwaukee Mustang driver attempted to complete a final hot lap.

Van Gisbergen was driving back to the pits at the time, having run off at Turn 9, ruining his own last-ditch attempt.

Officials also investigated a complaint van Gisbergen had impeded Richie Stanaway, which Deputy Race Director David Stuart declared did not warrant referral to the stewards.

Davison received his own three-place penalty for impeding Nick Percat, dropping the Ford driver from 17th to 20th.

Golding has meanwhile been shuffled from 19th to 22nd, having been deemed to have impeded Chaz Mostert at Turn 12.

Mostert narrowly missed out on a Shootout berth in 11th, just 0.0005s shy of the Top 10.
