Friday February 11 at 6.00pm: 2005 Ipswich Race 17

Marcos Ambrose continued his impressive qualifying run at Queensland Raceway with his fifth straight pole in as many starts.

Ambrose and Craig Lowndes were locked in battle heading into Turn 1, with Ambrose holding the inside line to stay in the lead.

Russell Ingall led the battle pack for third ahead of Todd Kelly, Steven Richards, Mark Skaife and Garth Tander.

The reigning champion held a one-second margin over Lowndes by the third lap.

Jason Richards had a major accident on lap 44, with a touch from Paul Morris sending the Tasman Holden into a barrel-roll at over 160km/h.

Richards miraculously walked away from the incident.

Lowndes would go on to win the race, with Tander holding on to third ahead of Ingall.

Sunday February 13 at 6.00pm: 2005 Adelaide Race 1

Rick Kelly started from pole for the second time in his Supercars career alongside Ambrose.

Despite getting the jump on the reigning champion, Kelly was forced to yield to Ambrose by Turn 1.

The Tasmanian dominated the weekend in Adelaide, maintaining his lead after a mid-race Safety Car saw his team employ a superior race strategy.

With 10 laps remaining, Lowndes was forced to retire due to his Falcon suffering an engine failure.

Greg Murphy continued to move through the field, passing Morris for fourth, but was still 11 seconds behind third-placed Ingall.

Ambrose had 11 seconds to the next car, which was enough time to effectively cruise through the last few laps.
