UPDATE: Xbox Australia today announced it has partnered with Triple Eight Race Engineering to enter the Xbox One Racing Team as a wildcard in the 2013 Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

With international champion race car drivers Andy Priaulx and Mattias Ekström behind the wheel, the Xbox One Racing team will be boosted by the support of long time Xbox ambassador and team advisor Mark Skaife and Triple Eight Race Engineering Team Owner Roland Dane.

To celebrate, Xbox Australia has also announced it will be including the Bathurst track, Mount Panorama, in the highly-anticipated racing game “Forza Motorsport 5” set to launch with the new Xbox One console this November.

More to come.

July 31, 2013:

Triple Eight Race Engineering today confirmed that it will enter a third, stand-alone VF Commodore in the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 to be held at Mount Panorama on October 10-13, as part of the PIRTEK Endurance Cup.

The entry will be supported by Holden and will run independently from Red Bull Racing Australia. It will be located at the opposite end of the Bathurst pit lane.

Approval for the wild card entry has been granted by the V8 Supercars Commission and Board.

Further information will be released in due course.

This comes shortly after Roland Dane spoke to v8supercars.com.au of his consideration to run four cars in next year’s Championship.

The two Red Bull Racing Australia Commodores run by Triple Eight are currently positioned first and second in the V8 Supercars Championship, Jamie Whincup leading Craig Lowndes by 129 points after the weekend’s Coates Hire Ipswich 360.

Whincup and Paul Dumbrell won the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 in 2012.
