A new documentary about the Greg Murphy/Richie Stanaway Bathurst wildcard effort is now available to view on YouTube and Kayo.

Murphy and Stanaway steered an Erebus-prepared, Boost Mobile-backed Commodore at October’s Repco Bathurst 1000.

It was Murphy’s first start since 2014, and Stanaway’s first since 2019.

The documentary, titled Wildcard: One Last Shot, documents the inside story of Murphy and Stanaway’s week.

The documentary is an unfiltered behind-the-scenes look of the whole story, from Auckland to Mount Panorama.

Vision was captured by One Nine Media, with the final documentary directed and edited by Scott Pye.

New Zealand duo Murphy and Stanaway combined to finish 11th, a smart result considering neither driver had recent racing experience.

The #51 finished 11th

The two drivers were initially meant to race in 2021, having been coaxed out of retirement by Boost Mobile founder Peter Adderton.

COVID-19 pushed the wildcard programme to 2022, and a Will Brown crash threatened to derail the programme altogether.

Come October 6, the the #51 Boost Mobile car rolled out of pit lane — and the two drivers were up to the task.

Notably, Murphy clocked his fastest ever lap of Mount Panorama.

The documentary follows the two drivers and Adderton across signing sessions, at home and at the track.

Stanaway’s qualifying heroics and the race-day effort are also documented.

Adderton and Boost Mobile Australia General Manager Jason Haynes are the Executive Producers of the documentary.

Murphy later suggested it was his final Bathurst start, while Stanaway lit the fire to make a Supercars return.

"Fans will get a raw look at exactly what went on behind-the-scenes with the wildcard which it’s the most compelling content I’ve seen,” Adderton said.

"We want Richie back on the grid and I’m sure once fans see this documentary which shows how he and Murph thrilled fans on and off the track, they’ll know exactly why.

"Scott Pye and his team have done an amazing job.

"We get to see Murph prepare for his final lap of Bathurst after his incredible career and get to see a side of Richie we have never seen, as he searches for a shot at redemption to kick start his driving career again.

"We can’t wait to see the fans reaction now it's up and running on Kayo."

The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will commence in Newcastle next March.

Tickets are on sale on Supercars.com and Ticketek.com.
