The long radius corners of The Bend Motorsport Park will offer a crucial test for Gen3’s oil system.

The Gen3 Camaro and Mustang will make their Tailem Bend debut at the OTR SuperSprint.

The cars have been allocated a dedicated session on the Friday of the event.

There, they will be put to the test in a bid to fast-track signing off the oil system.

“The biggest thing we want to sign off at Tailem Bend is the oil system,” category Head of Motorsport Adrian Burgess told Supercars.com.

“You’ve got long right-handers in sequence there, which is the highest load on the oil system of the year.

“The demand is very high. We picked early in the piece that that track would help sign off the oil tank.”

Tailem Bend will become the seventh different circuit Gen3 cars have lapped.

The Bend is centred on high speed, high load corners.

Tailem Bend’s Turn 5 and 7-8-9 sections will offer the greatest test for the cars during the running.

The Friday running comes after the cars were subject to the aggressive kerbs of Townsville’s street circuit.

There, drivers managed to find comfort after the track rubbered up, with the cars responding in kind.

The prototypes were shaken down at Queensland Raceway on Thursday.

“We’ll carry on getting more mileage on drivetrain,” Burgess added.

“We’ll run on the Friday, and we’ll stay on and run on the Monday.

“The fans will be there, so they’ll be able to get up and close to the cars.”

The 2022 season will resume at the OTR SuperSprint on July 30-31. Purchase your tickets now.
