Shane van Gisbergen has led the charge in the day's final practice session, 0.3sec ahead of James Courtney with a 1min10.4729 lap around the Surfers Paradise street circuit.

The TEKNO driver continued to better his own time, after being the first to drop into the '1min10' bracket in the session, and for the day.

Behind Courtney's Holden Racing Team V8 Supercar was last year's winner David Reynolds, after a close call in the third session when co-driver Dean Canto brushed the tyres with the Bottle-O Falcon.

Bathurst victor Chaz Mostert came home fourth, with Scott McLaughlin, Scott Pye, Will Davison, Mark Winterbottom and Fabian Coulthard completing the top 10.

Fan favourite Craig Lowndes came home 13th in his Red Bull Commodore, and Jason Bright 19th, the team now changing the engine in the BOC Commodore due to a cracked head.

The session was red flagged with around 10 minutes to go for maintenance to a tyre bundle, while more drivers were pinged for kerb overuse, Rick Kelly just one who copped a two-minute stop penalty.

ARMOR ALL Qualifying starts the V8 Supercars action tomorrow, with an 11.35am start, followed by the Top 10 Shootout at 12.40pm local time.
