A "mature" drive in Race 23 has earned Brodie Kostecki a fan in Garth Tander.

Kostecki scored a memorable second podium of 2022 in a tense OTR SuperSprint finale.

The 24-year-old raced from 13th to third in the sprint race, which was punctuated by rain.

Three of Kostecki’s four career podiums have come in wet-weather races.

It was welcome return for Erebus, which announced it had re-signed both drivers for 2023.

Kostecki now heads to Sandown, where last March, he scored career podium No.1 in an equally challenging race.

Four-time Bathurst winner Tander was in awe of how Kostecki kept it clean as others fell off the track.

"I loved the way [Erebus] bounced back," Tander said on Supercars Trackside.

"Really strong in practice straight out of the gate… they’ve turned their form around.

"Brodie Kostecki… he’s got webbed feet.

"His first ever podium was Sandown in the rain, he stuck it on the podium again.

"A really mature, solid drive. All you needed to do was keep it on the island for 24 laps.

"Brodie did a great job, he had good speed and brought it home on the podium again."

Kostecki was followed home by teammate Will Brown in sixth, laying proof Erebus has turned a corner.

Brown is still chasing a first podium of the season, but scored dual top 10s on Sunday.

Mark Skaife reiterated Tander’s comments, saying Erebus’ drivers could be ones to watch should rain fall over Sandown.

"It was certainly a great performance by Brodie to get it on the podium," Skaife said.

"Great drive in the rain last year at Sandown.

"If it’s an inclement weekend at Sandown, you’ve got to say that a local team Erebus, they should go well there too."
