Garth Tander will start this afternoon's Clipsal 500 race from seventh on the grid, though he was originally positioned in ninth after the ARMOR ALL Top 10 Shootout.

The Holden Racing Team driver and 2010 event winner was first out on track during the shootout, with a 1min21.200 - 0.66sec of pole man and teammate James Courtney.

However an issue with the timing sensor in the final sector meant that portion of the lap had to be entered manually. After an investigation, involving a look at the team's data, Tander's time was readjusted which raised him to seventh position, knocking off Supercheap Auto stablemate Tim Slade, and pushing Marcos Ambrose down to ninth.

The same issue occurred during Fabian Coulthard's lap - but the time was deemed correct, and his position will not change.

Coulthard starts alongside Courtney on the front row.

The 250km Clipsal 500 race three begins at 3.25pm local time.
