The Repco Supercars Championship is proud to announce a partnership with the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care (DHAC) to promote winter preparedness at upcoming events.

This initiative aims to encourage fans and the wider community to practise protective behaviours to keep themselves and others safe during the upcoming winter season, where high circulation of illnesses including COVID-19 and influenza, is expected.

"As an organisation, Supercars has always placed a high priority on the safety and wellbeing of our fans and staff," said Supercars GM, Commercial, Jamie Black.

"Reinforcing that commitment, we are thrilled to be working with the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care to promote winter preparedness to help protect those most at risk in our community.

"We look forward to utilising our platforms as a major sport to spread awareness across the country and encourage the community to practise protective behaviours as we head into the winter months."

The 'Winter Preparedness' campaign will be active across big screens, posters, and other promotional materials at Supercars events through to the end of July, headlined by a digital content piece featuring Supercars drivers.

The messaging will also be communicated to Supercars event officials and volunteers and to the wider fan base through various other platforms.

This partnership reinforces the joint commitment between the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care and Supercars to promote protective behaviours within the community.

Australian Government Acting Chief Medical Officer Professor Michael Kidd said: "Encouraging protective behaviours such as regular hand washing, wearing a mask when appropriate, vaccination, cough and sneezing into your elbow or tissue, and staying home when unwell is as important as ever to keep at-risk community members safe during the upcoming winter season."

More information on the influenza and COVID-19 viruses can be found on the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care website at health.gov.au.

The Repco Supercars Championship returns to action May 19-21 at the NED Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint, taking place at Symmons Plains International Raceway outside Launceston.

The Tasmanian event is the fourth round of the 2023 Supercars season, and the 50th Supercars event to be held at Symmons Plains. Tickets to the event can be purchased via Supercars.com and Ticketek.
