Supercars Australia is proud to partner with Cleanaway, the official waste removal partner for the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship.

Supercars General Manager of Events Phil Shaw said Cleanaway has been a valued partner since 2015, providing waste removal services across five Virgin Australia Supercars Championship events.

“Cleanaway not only supports general waste management at our events but has also introduced new recycling technology which gives the used oils from our workshops and pit lane a new life and keeps them out of landfill,” he said.

Each year Cleanaway collect and process more than 150 million litres of used oil.  This is then re-refined, resulting in oils that are returned to the value chain to be used in place of new oil and offsetting Australia’s requirement for new oil by 900,000 barrels every year.

Cleanaway is continuing to invest in similar innovation and technology across their waste and recycling activities, making them the market leader in the collection and processing of paper, cardboard, metals and plastics.

Australia’s recycling rates are continuing to improve, and technological advances mean increasingly more sophisticated processing and sorting plants around the country.

“Working with partners such as Cleanaway, together we can continue to make progress towards building a more sustainable future,” Shaw said.
