Supercars has appointed award-winning producer David Tunnicliffe to Head of Broadcast to manage the sports’ award-winning television production arm.

David joined Supercars in 2016 and over recent years has been the Head of Production, working closely with broadcast partners to deliver world-class coverage around the world.

Prior to Supercars, Tunnicliffe helped to produce coverage of the Olympic Games, Winter Olympics, Commonwealth Games and Motorsport at Channel Ten.

Tunnicliffe will replace Nathan Prendergast, who is leaving Supercars in June to pursue a new global broadcasting opportunity.

“For the past seven years David and Nathan have been instrumental at Supercars Media, widely regarded as one of the best television production teams in the world,” Supercars CEO Shane Howard said.

“Supercars is very proud David will lead the team going forward to further grow the world-class television, digital and broadcast content our media house produces.”

Tunnicliffe said of his appointment: “I am honoured to be given the opportunity to lead such an amazing team.”

“Nathan and I have worked together since 2016 and he leaves big shoes to fill. I know that my passion for the sport and the people who deliver it will help me maintain the world-class standard that the Supercars Media product delivers.

“I look forward to the challenges and continued growth of the Supercars coverage in the years ahead.”

Supercars has also announced a second appointment within its broadcast team of Carl Iannelli to the position of Head of Business & Operations – Broadcast.

Like David, Carl has been with Supercars since 2016, and has played a pivotal role in the production of more than 1500 hours of live and delayed content each year across broadcast and digital channels.

Carl has worked in television for 18 years, having previously held various production roles at Channel Nine between 2004-2015.

“Like Nathan and his predecessor, David and Carl were both recruited internally for their roles which further highlights the depth and experience of this highly-respected team,” Howard said.

Prendergast said: “We are extremely proud of the TV team and to have David and Carl promoted to handle the key TV duties is a brilliant outcome.”

“David will carry the passion and culture of the TV team and along with Carl’s incredible attention to detail they will ensure the TV product continues to perform at its world-class level.”

Tunnicliffe and Iannelli will officially begin their new roles following the Merlin Darwin Triple Crown next month, which is being broadcast live on Fox Sports and the Seven Network and streamed live via Kayo.
