Jamie Whincup haswon a race every year at the V8 Supercars Sucrogen Townsville 400 since it’sbeginning.

He’s theinaugural winner and the most recent winner, and only three others – JamesCourtney, Mark Winterbottom and Garth Tander – have knocked him off thethrone at the event in the last four years.

Thestreet circuit – which is just south of the Townsville CBD – means 2.86kilometres of action-packed street racing, testing the drivers’ abilities tothe max with its challenging structure and sweltering north Queensland heat.

And it’s not justthe V8 Supercars on track action to look forward to. This signature event willalso host the Dunlop Series – withtwo-time Moto GP Champion Casey Stoner in thefield – Porsche Carrera Cup, V8 Utes and Formula Ford.

Australia’s top stunt man Matt Mingay and his team Stuntz Inc will beentertaining fans with their adrenalin filled display of dangerous stunts andalong with an RAAF Hawk Fighter Jet aerial display. Fans can also get up closeto some of the incredible Australian Defence Force vehicles with the tracksidestatic display.

This year thereis an emphasis on action-packed, family friendly entertainment – both on and off track – with morethan enough to fill three days for visitors.

The ‘Rock and Race’ format has meant great acts year on year, and onceagain an amazing Aussie line-up with the HOODOO GURUS andIAN MOSS to rock your world on Saturdayevening.  

And the party doesn’t end there – the high-energy atmosphere this year will be enhanced by the Jim Beam Party Platform, offering prime elevatedtrack viewing right amongst the action at turns seven and eight.

The raised platform will have a dedicated cash bar and ticket holdershave the opportunity to party with the Jim Beam Party Crew.

Of course, event goers get the chance to see what happens behind thescenes when they purchase the V8 Supercars Paddock Pass, allowing them to peer in to pit lane garages.

For those really keen to make it a big day, helicopter riders areavailable, providing a bird’s eye view of the track.

Other off track opportunities include the Shannons Auto Show, FlairAction Sports Trails with Australia’s top freestyle trial riders demonstratingtheir skills, plus the Boost Mobile Showtime Freestyle Moto X team and the MissV8 Supercars finalists taking to the grid.

There’s something for all members of the family with the all-new Disney-Pixar Fun Zone trackside. Little cars fans will have a great time tracksidewith the zone now featuring Monsters University, Toy Story, Finding Nemo andthe return of Mack the Transporter.
