Familiarity with cars and team aided Aaron Seton’s road to his first Bathurst start, says Matt Stone.

Third-generation racer Seton will share the #34 Truck Assist Commodore with Jack Le Brocq.

Seton is one of six confirmed Bathurst debutants for October's race, all six of them currently racing in Super2.

Matt Payne, Cameron Hill, Declan Fraser, Matt Chahda and Jaylyn Robotham will also make their debuts.

Seton recently tested Le Brocq’s ZB Commodore at Queensland Raceway.

He also turned laps in his MSR Super2 VF Commodore on the day.

It wasn’t Seton’s first taste of ZB machinery, given he has completed a number of ride days for the team.

That helped Stone’s decision to hand Seton his Great Race debut, given the familiarity across the board.

“It’s been really good,” Stone told Supercars’ Cool Down Lap podcast of Seton’s preparation.

“Obviously having him as part of the team, we can be aligned with both categories.

“Both driving similar machinery, and the same personnel internally.

“We’re happy, and that’s why we decided to go with Aaron.

“He’s part of the team, and he has been for a few years.

“We look forward to giving him his first opportunity of the 1000.”

Seton said he found jumping between the two different cars helpful at last week’s test.

Son of two-time series champion Glenn, 24-year-old Aaron sampled the softer compound tyre on the ZB.

Seton will continue his 2022 Dunlop Series campaign at Sandown this weekend.

He is eighth in the standings, albeit 177 points from leader Declan Fraser.

Dunlop Series drivers will compete in two 150-point races this weekend.
