The drivers’ and teams’ championships are likely to be settled on the Surfers streets this weekend.

However, with two rounds remaining, there are several points battles still to be decided.

Shane van Gisbergen needs just 33 points to secure his third Supercars championship.

Only Cam Waters can prevent a van Gisbergen title, although he would require a disaster for the Kiwi.

Red Bull Ampol Racing is also in with a shot to clinch its record-extending 11th teams’ title.

The teams' championship is doubly critical, with the 2022 standings to set the garage order for the first season of the Gen3 era.

With 600 points remaining for drivers, and 576 for teams for each round, there’s plenty on the line on the Gold Coast and Adelaide.

3rd place (drivers’ championship)

Anton De PasqualeChaz Mostert -25Will Davison -125Broc Feeney -231

Suspected failed gear change puts Davison out

Waters is 210 points ahead of De Pasquale, who moved to third at the expense of teammate Davison.

Davison arrived at Mount Panorama third, but crashed out of the Great Race in the final stint.

The big winners were Mostert and Feeney, who finished second and fifth respectively.

Rookie Feeney is in with an outside chance to finish third in his first full-time season.

Mostert finished a career-best third overall in 2021, and is just 25 points behind De Pasquale.

Davison is still in line to bring home the third place he surrendered in 2021 to Mostert.

7th place

David ReynoldsBrodie Kostecki -17Andre Heimgartner -150Mark Winterbottom -193

Reynolds suffered a Bathurst DNF, and with Kostecki fourth, the margin tightened to just 17 points.

Kostecki moved ahead of Heimgartner, also failed to score points in Bathurst.

Meanwhile, Winterbottom finished 15th and kept his top seven chances alive.

Reynolds has held seventh for the balance of the season, but Kostecki is now within striking distance.

Should Kostecki overhaul Reynolds and finish seventh, it would be a three-position improvement on his 10th overall from 2021.

9th place

Andre HeimgartnerMark Winterbottom -43Tim Slade -61Lee Holdsworth -80Will Brown -124James Courtney -171

Heimgartner is still in the running for an impressive top 10 in his first season with Brad Jones Racing.

However, Bathurst results have tightened the margins, with Slade, Holdsworth and Brown all eyeing the final top 10 spot.

A top 10 finish would be a fitting way for the retiring Holdsworth to bow out, having raced to sixth in Bathurst with 2023 replacement Matt Payne.

Courtney, who also didn’t score in Bathurst, is an outside chance considering the remaining four races offer 150 points to the winner.

5th place (teams’ championship)

Reynolds and Holdsworth have helped the Groves into a top five teams’ championship position.

However, Kostecki and Brown both finished in the top 10 in Bathurst and shaved the margin.

After Pukekohe, the margin between the two Melbourne teams was 253 points; it’s now just 61 points.

7th place

Winterbottom hoping for 'millimetre-perfect' laps

Heimgartner and Winterbottom’s teams are both in the hunt for seventh place in the teams’ standings.

Team 18 is just 39 points ahead of BJR’s lead squad; of the four cars, Bryce Fullwood’s ninth was the best result in Bathurst.

Heimgartner failed to score in Bathurst, while Team 18 had a trouble Great Race with 15th (Winterbottom) and 16th (Scott Pye).

11th place

Brad Jones Racing (#4 & #96)Tickford Racing (#55 & #56) -9

BJR’s crew for Macauley Jones and Jack Smith is also clinging onto 11th.

This battle is of extra significance, considering it’s for the final spot of the two-car outfits.

These two teams have traded places throughout the season, and BJR is just ahead by nine points.
