‘Reaching The Summit’: Channel 7 launches Bathurst opener

The Seven Network has launched the one-week countdown to the Repco Bathurst 1000 with its opener.

Seven is readying for its first broadcast of the Great Race since 2014.

It comes ahead of Foxtel’s launch of its Bathurst Channel, which will commence on Monday November 29.

Seven launched its opener after the WBBL Final on Saturday night, which was won by the Perth Scorchers.

The seven-minute long opener is voiced by revered broadcaster and commentator Bruce McAvaney, who himself featured in Seven’s Bathurst broadcasts of the 1990s.

Seven's opener is centred on giving its viewers a chance to connect with a storyline and choose who they want to ‘ride with’ for the race December 5.

The opener dives into the Bathurst stories of the likes of 2020 winner Shane van Gisbergen, multiple podium-finisher James Courtney and the retiring Jamie Whincup.

Two-time winner Will Davison, 2013 winner Mark Winterbottom, 2014 winner Chaz Mostert and 2020 pole-sitter Cameron Waters also feature.
