V8 Media's new frontman Greg Rust is honoured to be included among the candidates for next month's 57th annual TV Week Logie Awards.

Rust, along with good friend and former V8 Supercars pit lane reporter Daryl Beattie, were among the nominees in the Most Popular TV Presenter category.

The pair fronted the MotoGP pre-race program at Ten - one of the shows viewers could also vote for in the Most Popular Sports Program category, along with Formula one broadcasts headed by Rust and former World Champion and ex-V8 Supercar racer Alan Jones - before Rust joined V8 Media for this season.

Online voting for the Logies closed earlier this week and final nominations will be determined from those results.

Rust was flattered by the support from fans, after the Confederation of Australian Motorsport (CAMS) encouraged its members to get behind motorsport and vote.

"I've had some lovely messages of support which blew me away!" Rust told v8supercars.com.au.

"I just think it's fantastic for our motorsport industry to get recognition of this kind. And it's especially good for the hard working, passionate people who were responsible for making those shows- really it's for them.

"There are way bigger names in TV land that will probably pick up the award on the night and rightly so."

'Rusty' - who was part of the V8 Supercars broadcast team back in the mid-2006s - is pumped for the Clipsal 500, kicking off tomorrow in Adelaide.

"I can't wait - it has always been one of my favourites," Rust said of the V8 Supercars season opener. "This is going to be an awesome weekend."

Coverage of the Clipsal 500 starts on Thursday morning at 8.30am AEDT live on FOX SPORTS. Ten's broadcast of round one of the V8 Supercars Championship Series kicks off on Friday at midday.
