Triple Eight Team owner Roland Dane has confirmed Grant McPherson is joining his team for the 2015 season.

As reported yesterday, race engineer McPherson who worked with Mark Winterbottom in 2014, and Will Davison previously, has left the Ford squad after eight years.

While speculation is linking him to running Craig Lowndes' #888 Commodore as the fan favourite's current engineer Jeromy Moore looks for a gig overseas, Dane did not confirm McPherson's new role to v8supercars.com.au.

"He's joining T8, as are several other engineers," Dane said.

"All roles to be determined in [the] new year."

He emphasised that Moore, nicknamed 'JJ', was still part of the organisation.

"We are working on finding JJ a post overseas within our sphere of influence so he can gain international experience. Currently he's still with T8 working hard."

The switch means Ford star Mark Winterbottom will work with his fourth engineer in four years at Ford Performance Racing as he continues to push for his first Championship win.

Winterbottom is currently overseas with his young family for the Christmas break, but posted this comment on social media yesterday:

"In need of an engineer for next year. Been a hard 3 years as I have had a new guy each time. Hard for Campbell [Little] living interstate but great engineer. James Small was awesome but goes to NASCAR and Grant was great and gets a great opportunity to go to 888. Hopefully I get someone for more then a year in the future. Good luck to Grant aka Shippy. Had a great year with him and will be a great asset for 888."

Ford Performance Racing has been runner-up in the teams' Championship to Triple Eight for the past four seasons, including 2014.

Third-placed driver for 2014 Winterbottom won four races this year, behind second-placed Shane van Gisbergen's five, and Champion Jamie Whincup's 14.

Earlier this week, FPR boss Tim Edwards detailed why he believed his team had once again fallen short.
