David Reynolds has labelled his costly Race 16 clash with Bryce Fullwood a “lose-lose situation”.

Fullwood sent Reynolds into a spin on lap 2 at the final corner while battling over seventh place.

Reynolds sustained damage in the clash and was classified 26th, which became 25th after Chaz Mostert’s exclusion.

Fullwood was slapped with a 15-second penalty over the incident, which he took at his stop.

The Brad Jones Racing driver came home 18th, having started eighth.

A silver lining for Reynolds was the fact he moved to fifth in the points after Mostert’s exclusion.

Fullwood lines up Reynolds

"I was sitting where I started in P7 and Fullwood just punted me off on the last corner,” Reynolds said.

"He got a time penalty, and our car was damaged so it was a lose-lose situation.

"We would have been a contender in that race if it didn’t happen so it’s a shame.

“On the upside our pace has been in the top 5 this weekend and we’ve been making small improvements as we go.

"Tomorrow is a new day, and we’ll focus on finishing the weekend on a high.”

It was a brighter race for Penrite Racing teammate Lee Holdsworth, who raced from 26th to 11th.

Holdsworth was one of three drivers to gain 10 or more positions in the race.

It was a smart recovery after balance issues scuppered his qualifying chances.

"We put ourselves on the back foot straight away with qualifying unfortunately,” he said.

“We made a call on set up that just didn’t work for the rear of the car at all and we paid the price in that session.

"In the race I was able to capitalise on the early dramas in the pack and pick up a bunch of spots.

“We ran long in our first stint and I passed a few more after my pit stop on fresher tyres.

"We know what we need to do, we’re all focused as a team on making Sunday a much better one results wise."

Cars will return on Sunday at 8:35am local time for dual ARMOR ALL Qualifying sessions.
