The Bottole-O Racing's David Reynolds has clinched his first ARMOR ALL Pole Position and has reclaimed the lap record in today's 20-minute hard tyre qualifying session at the SKYCITY Triple Crown.

Reynolds put in a 1min06.2526 lap around the 2.9km Hidden Valley circuit, topping the time set yesterday by Rick Kelly on soft tyres by just 0.0394sec in his FG X Falcon and reviving his Friday form.

"Awesome for the team," Reynolds said.

"Really rapt ... we tuned it up, good to turn it around and come out on the top," he said after recording 16th and 10th place finishes in yesterday's two 100km sprints.

Brad Jones Racing's Fabian Coulthard starts alongside Reynolds on the front row in his Freightliner Commodore and is desperately looking for a turn of luck after first lap clashes in both races.

Shane van Gisbergen and Chaz Mostert take the second row, with Coulthard's stablemate Dale Wood a surprise top five qualifier, to start next to Championship leader Mark Winterbottom who came home sixth.
