David Reynolds is eager to race with Matt Campbell, claiming he is "blessed" to have the Porsche ace as his Bathurst co-driver.

Campbell joined Reynolds and Penrite Racing at Winton during a test day on Tuesday.

October's Great Race will be Campbell's fourth Bathurst start, and third for the Braeside team.

The 2016 Carrera Cup champion made his debut alongside Todd Kelly in 2016.

He earned a plumb drive with Shane van Gisbergen in 2017, and missed out on victory due to key late errors by the latter.

Campbell is closing on an IMSA title, and has been picked by Penske for Porsche's LMDh programme.

Knowing Campbell is an enduro expert, Reynolds is itching to get to Mount Panorama with a world-class talent by his side.

“Matt Campbell is a very, very good race car driver,” Reynolds said.

“He’s very professional. He’s knows his stuff and he’s an extremely good talent.

“I’m blessed to have him.

“As long as we dot our i's and cross our t's, all our pit stops are on point, our fuel consumption’s good, our speed is good, we’re definitely in with a chance.

“Anything can happen in that race, it’s such a long day. There’s so much pressure, a lot of safety cars.

“It’s the Bathurst 1000, you can win from last as we’ve seen.”

Reynolds won the 2017 Great Race with Luke Youlden, who won't race this year.

The former has six podiums to his name and is seventh overall.

Penrite Racing is an improved product in 2022 given greater Grove investment and clever staffing.

Campbell (R) and Mathieu Jaminet are eyeing IMSA success

Campbell is already feeling the benefits of being reunited with David Cauchi, who was at Triple Eight when he raced with van Gisbergen.

The Porsche star has since returned to the US to attempt to win the IMSA title.

He will return Down Under for what looms as a great chance to win the Great Race, having already clicked with Reynolds and the #26 Ford.

“At first, it’s not easy jumping into the Mustang,” said Campbell, the 2019 Bathurst 12 Hour winner.

“It’s a lot of fun, I’m really enjoying myself coming back and doing this race.

“It takes a bit to get used to, I’m used to GT cars.

“And LMPh, with testing ramping up with that.

“Nevertheless, it helps I have experience from past years.

“It only takes a couple of sessions to feel comfortable in a Supercar."

Tickets for the Repco Bathurst 1000 are available on Supercars.com and Ticketek.
