Red Bull Ampol Racing’s tributes to the retiring Jamie Whincup have continued in Bathurst ahead of his final full-time start.

This weekend’s season-ending Repco Bathurst 1000 will be the seven-time series champion’s final round as a full-time driver.

Whincup was celebrated on Monday at Mount Panorama with a special flyover by veteran pilot Matt Hall.

The 38-year-old then posed with his team and Hall underneath a special #CheersJDub sign on Mountain Straight.

On Tuesday, Whincup’s team presented the driver with a custom-made bonnet.

The bonnet recognises Whincup’s achievements since he joined the Triple Eight fold in 2006.

Between 2006 and 2021, Whincup has won 124 races and claimed 92 pole positions.

He won titles in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2017, all with either the #88 or #1.

The bonnet also features the names of Whincup's race cars, his personal logo, and the banners under which Triple Eight competed in the driver's time with the team.

Space on the bonnet has been left should Whincup claim another pole position, fifth Bathurst 1000 win, and 125th Supercars race win.

Whincup will also race with the #88 this weekend; later on Tuesday, the team confirmed Shane van Gisbergen and Garth Tander will campaign the #888 in Bathurst.

Van Gisbergen and Tander, who won the 2020 Great Race, opted to race with the #888 in honour of outgoing Team Principal and Managing Director Roland Dane.

Whincup will replace Dane in both roles in 2022, with Super2 points leader Broc Feeney to replace Whincup alongside van Gisbergen.

Cars will hit the track on Thursday for Practice 1 at 10:00am AEDT. Click here to view the track schedule.

Every session of the event will be broadcast live on Foxtel (Fox Sports 503) and streamed on Kayo.

The Seven Network will provide live free to air coverage of the event. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
