Quinn excited for Triple Eight's future

Triple Eight Race Engineering co-owner Tony Quinn is relying on Jamie Whincup to keep the new-look team winning championships.

Seven-time champion Whincup has taken over the team principal and managing director roles from Roland Dane, who recently sold his remaining shares in the team.

A new era for Triple Eight will dawn in Newcastle in March, with Broc Feeney to make his full-time debut.

Two new engineers will also enter the fold, with Andrew Edwards shifting from Brad Jones Racing and Martin Short promoted from Triple Eight’s Super2 programme.

It comes as race engineer David Cauchi leaves for Grove Racing for 2022, and Whincup’s engineer Wes McDougall stepping down.

Quinn, who is the majority shareholder of the championship-winning team, welcomes the changing of the guard.

"I think change is good," Quinn said.

"As long as they adopt the culture and the practices that make a winning team.

"I think young people and change, is good for a business.

"I think it is important, I think the same people doing the same job over and over, you are going to get beaten.

"You’ve got to keep that new blood coming in and I’m sure that the world just continues to change, it’s the same as a business.

"A business has to continue to change, challenge itself, and keep winning. That’s the key to any business, you must keep winning."

The teaser trailer for the third instalment of the much-anticipated Inside Line docuseries, which followed Triple Eight in 2021, was released on New Year’s Day.

The series follows Shane van Gisbergen’s journey to claiming his second title and Whincup’s final season as a full-time driver.

Reigning Supercars champion van Gisbergen will be joined by Feeney at Red Bull Ampol Racing in 2022.

Cameron Hill and Declan Fraser will form the team's Super2 line-up.

With new blood arriving, Quinn is confident in Whincup’s ability to lead the new-look squad.

"If anything unusual was to happen, Jamie and Jess [Dane] can count on me, and let's not forget that Roland will still be hanging around, and that’s a good thing," Quinn continued.

"But we want the young, particularly Jamie, but Jamie and Jess to take this thing, and keep it at the forefront of motorsport in Australia."

Further broadcast information for Inside Line – A season with Triple Eight will be announced in 2022.

The 13-event 2022 Repco Supercars Championship will commence in Newcastle on March 4-6. Tickets for the event are on sale now.
