PremiAir Racing has secured the services of decorated engineer Geoffrey Slater for the rest of the season.

Slater joined the team mid-season following his departure from Walkinshaw Andretti United.

He made cameo appearances for the team in Townsville and Tailem Bend.

The Bathurst-winning race engineer engineered Chris Pither’s #22 Coca-Cola Commodore.

Slater’s full-time stint with PremiAir Racing starts with this weekend’s ITM Auckland SuperSprint.

His career is highlighted by a Bathurst 1000 victory for Tekno Autosports in 2016.

Slater also enjoyed success at the Daytona 24 Hour (2020) and the Michelin Endurance Cup (2020).

He was part of Team Sydney’s line-up before joining WAU in the off-season.

Slater reunites with the cars he skippered in 2021 and at his cameo appearances this year.

After being roped in by team owner Peter Xiberras, Slater was impressed by the team’s potential.

It comes just weeks after the team moved into its new Gold Coast base.

"I have been a friend of Pete’s for over a year,” Slater said.

"He asked me to come and help out at Townsville and then at The Bend, and while I was there, I could see the team has huge growth potential.

“It is going to be an exciting adventure to see where we can go together.

“I spent 15 years in Supercars with a highlight being the 2016 Bathurst 1000 win with Tekno Autosports.

"With COVID hitting it was the right time to head back to Australia which has led me back to Supercars.

"I am very excited to see what we can build together here at PremiAir Racing across the remainder of the 2022 season."

PremiAir Racing Team Principal Matt Cook was excited to have Slater on a more permanent basis.

“We are very excited about having Geoff join the team,” Cook said.

"He comes to us with a wealth of experience, he has been around the industry for a very long time, and we are very grateful to get him.

"Part way through the season it is very hard to find experienced personnel.

“We have been very grateful that he has graced us with his presence and will be with us until the end of the year.

"We couldn’t be more excited to have him joining the team."
