Plus Fitness has revealed its paint scheme for Aaren Russell, having secured major naming rights sponsorship with the new Erebus recruit for 2016.

The Plus Fitness Racing entry will be piloted by the 24-year-old in his debut V8 Supercars season.

The Australian-owned fitness franchise, which has over 180 locations across Australia and New Zealand, first partnered with Russell in 2014 in the V8 Supercars Dunlop Series.

Plus Fitness will now take the step up to the main game with the Novocastrian youngster, after also appearing on the wild card entry Russell and brother Drew steered at last year's Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000.

“I’m so pumped to have Plus Fitness as my major naming rights sponsor on my car for this season,” said Russell.

“I first met John Fuller and Nigel Miller of Plus Fitness a few years ago when I was looking for partners for my Dunlop Series drive, so they’ve been on board with me since then.

“It’s awesome to bring a sponsor into the Dunlop Series and then have them step up to V8 Supercars with me.

“The support I have at Plus Fitness means so much to me, we’ve got to know everyone there, they’re great people who back me 100%.”

Plus Fitness founding owner John Fuller is excited by the opportunity of expanding the brand’s reach across Australian motorsport.

“We’ve really enjoyed supporting Aaren over the last few years and we’re very excited to take this next step with him and Erebus Motorsport,” said Fuller.

“He is a promising young talent and he perfectly embodies our brand ethos.”

Russell acknowledges that he has his work cut out for him in his rookie V8 Supercars season, which begins with the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.

“We’ve got a big year ahead of us, and the first round in Adelaide is only six weeks away, but we’ve also got a lot of support in our corner,” he said.

“I finished third in the round last year in Adelaide, so it’s a track I enjoy driving – I can’t wait for the season to kick off!”
