Pither celebrates birth of first child

Chris Pither will be the newest dad on the Supercars grid this weekend after celebrating the arrival of his first child, Audrey.

Pither flew to the Gold Coast to be with partner Georgia Moorfield for the birth, which comes just in time for Father’s Day tomorrow.

The 33-year-old has returned to Townsville in time to take part in the fourth straight weekend of racing.

Pither enjoyed a strong run to 11^th aboard the #22 Coca-Cola Commodore in the Saturday race last weekend and has set about improving his qualifying for the Robson Civil Projects Townsville SuperSprint.

The opening Supercars session will be a rookie-only practice from 9:20am local time, for which Pither is able to take part in, qualifying by virtue of being in just his second full-time season.
