Preparations for the 2019 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship step up a gear on Thursday, with the pre-season test at Phillip Island.

The full field of 24 cars and drivers will tackle the high-speed Victorian circuit, ahead of the season-opening Superloop Adelaide 500 in a fortnight.

Most eyes will be on Ford's new Mustang Supercar, but there will be interest in Mark Winterbottom, Lee Holdsworth, Will Davison and Richie Stanaway in their new surrounds.

The full 2019 Supercars driver line-up will host live timing throughout the day, and provide regular updates on the website and Supercars social media channels.

Pitlane opens at 9am and runs through to 5pm, with no designated break for lunch during the day.

Fans are invited to attend, with entry free of charge and from 8:30am via Gate 7.

Public viewing is from the pit paddock and the roof of Phillip Island's pit complex until 4:45pm.

Within the paddock, the circuit cafe will be in operation during the day.
