Preparations for the 2019 Virgin Australia Supercars Championship step up a gear on Thursday, with the pre-season test at Phillip Island.

The full field of 24 cars and drivers will tackle the high-speed Victorian circuit, ahead of the season-opening Superloop Adelaide 500 in a fortnight.

Most eyes will be on Ford's new Mustang Supercar, but there will be interest in Mark Winterbottom, Lee Holdsworth, Will Davison and Richie Stanaway in their new surrounds.
