V8 Supercars dismisses a report it is heading to the Middle East in 2017.

V8 Supercars CEO James Warburton says there are no plans to host a race in Dubai in 2017.

“This week’s media report stating that we are planning to be in Dubai next year is incorrect and if the journalist had contacted us we would have conveyed that to him,” he said.

“Our international focus will continue to be on New Zealand and Asia and continuing to deliver the very best events for our fans around Australia.

“This is an exciting time for V8 Supercars. We’ve already seen some incredible racing this year with six different winners from seven races in what is shaping up as one of the most hard fought championships we have seen.

“This comes on the back of strong growth in 2015 across attendances, TV ratings and our digital platforms. The sport is continuing to evolve and grow and we look forward to making some exciting announcements for our fans in the coming weeks and months.”
