V8 Supercars team Nissan Motorsport is giving fans the chance to wear their merchandise in a new and innovative way.
In an Australian sporting first, fans will be able to apply 'any name' and 'any number' to the back of their team gear, giving them wearable personalized memorabilia at the race track.
And patrons of this weekend's Castrol Townsville 500 Driven by TAFE Queenslandwill be the first to get to brand their own apparel by simply visiting 'Merchandise Alley,' find the Nissan Motorsport area and tap your details into the easy-to-use digital kiosk. It's that simple!
Want Rick Kelly's name on the back of your shirt? Sure thing. Or maybe you're name is John Smith and you were born in 1980 -lock in 'Smith 80'!
And if you've already bought your team gear, never fear! New and old apparel can be dropped off and personalized at the track!
Common in American sports like baseball and basketball, this wearable initiative is in conjunction with leading brand personalization company Fanzones.com, who have signed an exclusive deal with the factory Nissan race team.
Nissan Motorsports driver and team owner Rick Kelly says that offering this new option in the team's merchandise is a major point of difference.
"One thing that Nissan Motorsport has always strived for is to do things a little differently," said the 2006 V8 Supercars champion.
"Brand personalization is very exciting - our fans can come to the track and wear the drivers name on their shirt, or their own name, or even their nick name - the opportunities are endless.
"It offers us a strong point of difference in the merchandise sphere. Every team has a range of apparel, but no one has anything like this.
"People will be able to show their support for their favourite driver, but I'd really urge people to put their own name on the shirts. It's up to them and there's almost no limit."
The Castrol Townsville 500 Driven by TAFE Queensland kicks off this Friday with three 20 minute practice sessions ahead of a full weekend of qualifying and racing.
