The clips, ranging from 60 to 90 seconds, see Crompton take viewers inside cars in detail.

Supercars.com, Crompton and Airtime Media engaged Brad Jones Racing and Tickford Racing for the first round of videos.

The videos have been split into five different sections: Safety, Ergonomics, Performance, Maintenance and Pit Stops.

Each section features a short clip, hosted by Crompton, about terms viewers may hear on the broadcast.

Crompton is allowed rare access into stripped back cars, both in the workshop and at the track.

Teams also supplied parts to be displayed externally before Crompton explains their function in the car.

That ranges from fuel cells to brake systems, and wipers to fire safety systems.

The aim of Supercars Explained is to arm viewers, new or existing, with the basic knowledge they need to follow a race weekend.

The new series has been launched in race week of the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500.

Crompton will feature in commentary alongside fellow Hall of Famer Mark Skaife.

The Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 will be broadcast live on Foxtel and Kayo this weekend.

The Seven Network will carry live coverage of the Surfers Paradise event.
