The 2021 Repco Supercars Championship will begin at the spiritual home of Australian motorsport, with confirmation today of February’s Mount Panorama 500.

The event will be the first of the 12-round Championship and first of two stops at the iconic Bathurst circuit in 2021, with the Repco Bathurst 1000 now locked in for October 7-10.

The 500km three-day event from 26-28 February will add a new element to the history of Mount Panorama and will see new faces battling it out to become the inaugural race winner in 2021.

NSW Minister for Jobs, Investment, Tourism and Western Sydney Stuart Ayres said motorsport was an important part of the state’s sporting, cultural and economic landscape.

“It’s fantastic to see three Repco Supercars Championship events in NSW in 2021, including two at Mount Panorama, Bathurst where fans love to see memorable racing and the highly anticipated Sydney SuperNight under permanent lights at Sydney Motorsport Park,” Minister Ayres said.

With three-time Supercars Champion Scott McLaughlin not on the grid full-time in 2021, the opportunity awaits the entire Supercars’ field to stake an early claim to next year’s throne.

In light of the recent announcements regarding the loosening of restrictions, Supercars is currently reviewing its general admission, grandstand and corporate ticketing options for the season opening Mount Panorama 500, with further details to be released for fans by December 10.

Teams will begin preparations for the 2021 Repco Supercars Championship with pre-season testing to take place at Sydney Motorsport Park on Sunday, 14 February.

Supercars will continue work on 2021 event formats with full details to be released over coming weeks.
