Matt Stone Racing has “massive potential” heading into the Gen3 era, says 2023 recruit Cameron Hill.
Hill will race alongside Jack Le Brocq for MSR when the Gen3 era commences next year.
The Canberran will be one of two rookies — Penrite Racing’s Matt Payne being the other — on the 2023 grid.
MSR will campaign two Chevrolet Camaros, having raced Commodores since 2019.
The Yatala team already has two Gen3 Camaro chassis — one complete with panels and interior — at its headquarters.
Dick Johnson Racing, Triple Eight, Brad Jones Racing, Tickford Racing, Grove Racing, PremiAir Racing and Team 18 also have two chassis.
There are just four more chassis left to be built.
New car, new era for Hill's debut
All have been delivered or are due to be sent, with Supercars having inspected and signed them off.
The new ruleset will see teams start from zero, something which may help Hill as he gets up to speed.
"The team has been building towards Gen3 for some time now,” Hill said.
"Everyone will have brand new cars, and I see it as a big opportunity for myself and the team to make an impact.
"It's the first time the playing field will have been level for years.
"I am grateful that Matt and the team see my potential and are giving me this opportunity.”
Team owner Stone was impressed by Hill’s ability to adapt to new cars and be successful.
Most recently, Hill won the 2021 Carrera Cup title, and became a front-runner in Super2 this year.
“In years of racing different categories, he’s proven that he’s ready to take the step” Stone said.
“He's come across a broad range of different categories and has been successful in all of them.
“The new Gen3 era with brand-new cars — different machinery to previous years — it’s the perfect opportunity for him to make his debut.
"The new Gen3 chassis here at MSR are starting to come together, we’re really excited to debut them next year.”
The 2022 Supercars and Super2 seasons will conclude in Adelaide next month.
Teams will begin testing their Gen3 cars in January before the March Newcastle 2023 season opener.
