Jaylyn Robotham will race alongside Cameron Hill for the 2023 enduros at Sandown and Bathurst, Matt Stone Racing has confirmed.

Robotham, 20, tested Hill’s #35 Truck Assist Chevrolet Camaro at Queensland Raceway last week.

The Victorian will join Hill for Supercars’ longest races, with the first — the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 — to be held on September 15-17.

Robotham will then make his second Great Race start on October 5-8 at the Repco Bathurst 1000.

It ensures MSR has its full enduro line-up locked in, with Jayden Ojeda partnering Jack Le Brocq in the #34 Camaro.

“Really excited to be joining Cam and MSR in the #35 Truck Assist Camaro for the enduro rounds this season,” Robotham said.

“We had a decent test last week and it felt good with the team.

“Having worked with [engineer] Paul Forgie before and also having done my first evaluation day with MSR a few years ago really made it a lot easier coming into the team.

“Can’t thank everyone enough that made this possible and also to everyone at MSR for this opportunity.”

Robotham competed at last year’s Mount Panorama classic in the Caltex wildcard entry alongside Matt Chahda.

He is competing in the National Trans Am Series and Thailand Super Series’ Super Pickup categories this year.

Robotham also made a one-off start at the Thrifty Newcastle 500 for Dunlop Series team MW Motorsport.

It also reunites Robotham with engineer Forgie, has previously worked with the driver in 2019 when he won the TA2 Asia Series title.

“I’m looking forward to sharing the car with Jaylyn come enduro season,” said Hill, who was a feature of the top 10 in Tasmania last month.

Teams put through their paces in crucial test

“He has a good head on his shoulders, the right attitude and he’s quick as well, so he ticks all the boxes for us.

“Last week when we had Jaylyn join us for the test day, he gelled really well with the team and did a good job on track.

“I’m definitely excited for the enduro season.”

Team owner Stone added: “We are pleased to welcome Jaylyn into the MSR family as car #35 co-driver.

“Already Jaylyn is immediately fitting in well with the team, and having worked with Car #35 race engineer Paul Forgie in the past, that has sped up the process.

“He did a good job in the Caltex wildcard last year in difficult conditions and has proven he can drive around Bathurst in a decent lap time with no mistakes over a six-hour race.

“Cam and Jaylyn are a good, young combination and Jaylyn will perform his role as a co-driver very well for car #35.”

The Penrite Oil Sandown 500 will open the enduro season on September 15-17, followed by the Repco Bathurst 1000 on October 5-8.

The 2023 season will resume at the betr Darwin Triple Crown on June 16-18.
