The Fords have rolled out fastest this morning, with Chaz Mostert leading home Prodrive stablemate David Reynolds in the 15-minute practice run at the Perth SuperSprint.

Just 0.06sec separated the two, as Mostert dialed in his 56.86sec lap on his seventh of eight laps.

Freightliner Racing's Fabian Coulthard came home third, in a tight session where the top five were separated by less than 0.3sec.

Mostert said the result was a good indication of where they may be come qualifying, but until all cars line up with fresh rubber, it will be unpredictable.

"We're hopefully at the pointy end for qualifying, but it's tough... we'll see how we go," the Pepsi Max young gun said.

Erebus' Will Davison and TEKNO's Shane van Gisbergen also made the top five, with Dale Wood, Craig Lowndes and yesterday's fast man Tim Slade following.

Mostert's teammate Mark Winterbottom was home in 20th, with a handful of big names back in the order, including Jamie Whincup 12th, James Courtney 15th, Garth Tander 18th and Scott McLaughlin 19th.

Lowndes will be looking for four ARMOR ALL Pole Positions in a row as he lines up for the day's first qualifying run.
