Saturday Gold Coast 600 winner James Moffat has been fined and will miss Sunday's Porsche Carrera Cup race following an off-track altercation.

Moffat was involved in a clash with Carrera Cup rival Glen Wood following Saturday morning's opening race, in which they had an on-track run-in.

An investigation into the incident found Wood guilty of verbal abuse, and fined $500, and Moffat of a physical retaliation in parc ferme.

Moffat has been fined $5,000, $2,500 of which is suspended, and banned from Sunday's final race of the Carrera Cup season.

It has no bearing on Moffat's role with Chaz Mostert in Sunday's final leg of the PIRTEK Enduro Cup.

The pair dominated Saturday's race, Moffat taking a lead the Supercheap Auto pair would not relinquish on lap 36 of the 102.
