The on-track program has been confirmed for the Merlin Darwin Triple Crown Supercars Indigenous Round, which will take place from 17-19 June 2022 at the Top End’s Hidden Valley Raceway.

Last year the Darwin round received the 2021 Fans’ Choice Award for ‘Best Event’, and this year things are on track for another epic three days.

Things rev up from 8.15am on Friday, 17 June, when the Combined Sedans will kick-off the practice sessions, followed by the Australian Superbikes, S5000, Porsche Paynter Dixon Carrera Cup and Supercars.

This year two rising stars will take on the top Supercars talent as wildcard entries. Former Super2 rookie of the year Jayden Ojeda and Zak Best, from the powerful Tickford team, will bring the total number of Supercars to a whopping 27.

Friday also sees the first of two nights of high-octane Nitro Up North action, featuring the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship, Australian Top Doorslammers, Australian Top Fuel Motorcycles and local Sportsman categories.

This is the only Supercars round to feature drag racing.

Saturday starts bright and early with the Pit Lane Walk at 7.25am, where fans can chat to drivers and view their magnificent cars up close.

Qualifying and race rounds follow, including the Top 10 Shootout. There will also be a second night of Nitro Up North, including the crowning of the Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship winner.

Racing begins at 7.30am on Sunday, with the excitement hitting maximum speed during the main Australian Superbikes race at 1.55pm, followed by the main Supercars race at 3.25pm.

The podium presentations will wrap up the three days of non-stop action.

The Merlin Darwin Triple Crown is delivered by Northern Territory Major Events Company (NTMEC).

NTMEC CEO Tim Watsford said it is a favourite round of the Supercars Championship.

“People love the Merlin Darwin Triple Crown. There’s something special about three days packed with motorsports action under our guaranteed blue skies,” he said.

“Last year’s program saw fans vote us as ‘Best Event’ and we will be delivering another incredible program this year.

“There is plenty of off-track entertainment too, with the Night Transporter Convoy on June 15 and a Driver/Rider signing session at Darwin Waterfront on June 16.”
