Championship leader and Disney Cars 2 star Mark Winterbottom will meet and greet fans ahead of the weekend's Castrol Townsville 500 - Driven by TAFE Queensland on Thursday.

Having earned a podium finish on Saturday last year, the Ford Pepsi Max racer will be looking to go one better this time around and nab the maximum points available.

But before hitting the track, at 12pm Thursday July 3, 'Frosty' will be at Stockland Townsville, ready for autographs, photos and support from his fans ahead of the big 500km meeting.

Winterbottom is a favourite of many young fans thanks to his part in Disney's Car 2, and supports the Disney Fun Zone at the track - with a young family, he knows it's important to have something for everyone at a V8 Supercars meeting.

The ever-popular Disney Fun Zone will be ready to roll at the track from 10am Friday, running until 4pm each day of the Castrol Townsville 500 - Driven by TAFE Queensland.

Cars fans can meet Lighting McQueen and Mack the Transporter, and barrel down the Lightning's two-track inflatable slide.

Also partly Planes-themed, there's a Planes inflatable zone, and a B double trailer playing the movie, providing the ultimate chillout for tired little ones.

And after watching such cool racing, kids can even get behind the wheel to learn the road rules on the World Grand Prix Training Track, using pedal power to weave through cones, flags, signs and traffic lights.

The Disney Fun Zone is just one of the great areas for families at this weekend's Castrol Townsville 500 - Driven by TAFE Queensland. Click here and visit 'The Event' tab to find out more about the various entertainment options at the race meeting.

There's even something extra for mum this year, with the Sirromet Ladies Lounge under the Super Top, and a great concert line-up Saturday night featuring Jessica Mauboy and Vanessa Amorosi.

For those hoping to meet their favourite driver, there is also the Super Welcome to Townsville on Thursday afternoon from 4.30pm to 6pm. All drivers will be present at the Jezzine Barracks, Townsville.

But the best opportunity is in the paddock on race weekend. Autograph sessions for all drivers are scheduled in the V8 Supercars paddock from 8.45am on Saturday and 1.40pm on Sunday, so you can cheer on your team before they jump in the cars and snap a pic with your favourite.

If you're a Dunlop Series fan, they will also be holding autograph sessions under the Super Top at the Hot FM Entertainment stage, from 1pm Saturday and 11.30am Sunday. Remember, for this event a number of Pirtek Enduro Cup co-drivers will participate in the category with Bathurst winner Paul Dumbrell, fan favourite Steven Johnson, Dean Fiore, points leader Ash Walsh and plenty more to grab a scribble from.

Grab your tickets to the event now. Remember, the best view is from a reserved seat in the grandstands.
