Scott McLaughlin tops the times again in final practice at his home round, the ITM 500 Auckland.

The 22-year old Kiwi backed up yesterday's results with a 1min03.3123 lap on hard tyres in today's 15-minute session.

McLaughlin recorded his best after the chequered flag to top fast Fords of David Reynolds, Mark Winterbottom and Scott Pye. Just 0.16 seconds separated McLaughlin from third placed Winterbottom.

"It feels good, I think at the end of the day see how it goes in qualifying," McLaughlin told FOX SPORTS if his Volvo S60.

He will be gunning for three straight ARMOR ALL Pole Positions at Pukekohe, and while a good stat is up for grabs, he's focused on a bit more than that this afternoon.

"There's some good championship points and a win in front of my home crowd - that'd be cool but we've got to do it first," McLaughlin said.

"There is a little bit [we could find] - every race driver is going to say they didn't get the lap right."

James Moffat steered his Nissan Altima into the top five after looking racy yesterday at Pukekohe.

All four Kiwi drivers were in the top 11, with Shane van Gisbergen sixth, Fabian Coulthard ninth and V8 Supercars rookie Andre Heimgartner 11th.

Coulthard was confident his Freightliner Racing team would tame his Holden Commodore VF.

"We're struggling a little," he said.

"A little bit of work to do, but light at the end of the tunnel so have to keep chasing the light ... I need to be more comfortable and get a real good feel for this car."

Back to the SuperSprint format, the drivers will complete back-to-back qualifying from 10.05am AEDT, the first on the hard Dunlop tyre and the second on soft tyres for the first time at Pukekohe.
