Scott McLaughlin has gotten one back from the Aussies, recording a 1min02.8997 practice lap after the chequered flag at the ITM 500 Auckland.

McLaughlin and his Volvo had dropped down the list, after trading times with Jamie Whincup earlier in the weekend's final practice session – but flew in the final dash to record the only ‘02’ seen in V8 Supercars this weekend.

Whincup was 0.2 seconds behind in his Red Bull Commodore, and will be looking to bounce back after a power steering issue affected his run yesterday.

Ford’s Chaz Mostert came in third, with Championship leader Craig Lowndes fourth, James Courtney fifth and Shane van Gisbergen, Fabian Coulthard, James Moffat, Lee Holdsworth and Scott Pye completing the top 10, ensuring all manufacturers were represented.

Others to note include Mark Winterbottom 13th – where he finished yesterday’s first race – Race 10 winner Jason Bright 14, Garth Tander 15 and Robert Dahlgren 18.
