Warren Luff is “thrilled” to reunite with Scott Pye at Team 18, given the duo’s successful history as co-drivers.

It was announced Friday that Luff has joined Team 18 on loan from Walkinshaw Andretti United.

Pye and Luff will share the former's #20 Chevrolet Camaro at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500 and Repco Bathurst 1000.

The veteran remains a contracted WAU driver, and is also the team’s Super2 driver advisor.

Luff reunites with Pye, the duo having raced together at WAU between 2017 and 2019.

The Pye/Luff partnership delivered Bathurst runners-up results in 2017 and 2018, with Pye also finishing third with Garth Tander in 2015.

Luff joined WAU in 2014 and also finished third with Chaz Mostert in 2020, before partnering Bryce Fullwood (2021) and Nick Percat (2022).

It was with Pye, however, that Luff scored his best results — and he is determined to achieve the same with Team 18.

Luff also won the 2016 Sandown 500 with HRT

"I am thrilled to be reuniting with Scott Pye as his co-driver at Team 18 for Sandown and Bathurst this year,” Luff said.

“We have great history together from our three years at Walkinshaw, and have great memories from the back-to-pack podiums in 2017 and 2018.

“I’d like to extend my thanks to everyone at Walkinshaw Andretti United for loaning me out to Team 18 for the enduros.

"It’s great to have their support to stay on the grid and I appreciate the chance to compete with Team 18 at these iconic events.”

The move also reunites Luff with Team 18 owner Charlie Schwerkolt, who oversaw the driver’s partnership with James Courtney at Dick Johnson Racing.

Courtney and Luff finished fourth in the 2010 Great Race, with Courtney going on to win the championship.

“Charlie and I go way back to the DJR days in 2009 and 2010 when I teamed up with JC, so it’s great to reunite with him as well,” Luff said.

"I’ve got a lot of respect of him, he’s built a really strong outfit that’s been getting better year on year.

“I can’t wait to get stuck in to our preparations for Sandown and Bathurst and we’ll be sure to put our best foot forward when enduro season comes around.”

The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship will resume at the NED Whisky Tasmania SuperSprint on May 19-21.

Tickets for the event are on sale on Supercars.com and Ticketek.com.
