Glenn Seton will take a back seat to son Aaron’s looming Bathurst debut.

Third-generation Seton will make his debut alongside Jack Le Brocq.

Le Brocq and Seton will share the #34 Truck Assist Matt Stone Racing Commodore.

Seton, 24, is one of four drivers in the 2022 field carrying a famous surname.

He joins Jack Perkins, James Moffat and Macauley Jones. Perkins and Moffat’s fathers combine for 10 Bathurst wins.

Glenn infamously never won Bathurst, but carved out a Hall of Fame career.

The 1993 and 1997 series champion, Glenn is also the son of 1965 Bathurst winner Barry ‘Bo'.

Glenn won 40 races in 411 starts; only eight drivers in history have won more races.

Aaron’s first Bathurst came just three months after his birth, with Glenn finishing fifth in the 1998 race.

Glenn has since played a key hand in Aaron’s career, and is currently his Super2 engineer.

However, the Ford legend will be a keen bystander when Aaron makes his biggest career start on October 9.

“The first time I went to Bathurst, I was three months old,” Seton told Supercars.com.

“It’s a really special moment for the family. A lot of them will be coming to watch at the track, and plenty more will be watching at home.

“To have dad as my Super2 engineer is also special.

“We’ve worked together since I started in karts at seven. We’ve developed a strong relationship.

“With him having a strong background as a driver, he understands my language about making the car faster.

“Dad’s taking a step back with the main game stuff, but he’s all over the Super2 programme.

“There’ll be plenty going on, but he’ll be happy watching from the sidelines on Sunday.”

At the time of his announcement alongside Le Brocq, Aaron described restoring his family name to Bathurst as “surreal”.

Seton junior is one of seven debutants in this year’s race, six of them being current Super2 rivals.

Bo made 22 starts, and Glenn 26. Next Sunday, Aaron will become the third Seton to tackle the Great Race, and first in 12 years.

“It’s really special to have my first opportunity at the Great Race,” Seton said.

“I can’t thank Matt, Jack and everyone at the team enough for the opportunity enough."

On Le Brocq, Seton added: “I couldn’t think of a better person to make my debut with.

“Jack is so laidback and easygoing.

“I’m really looking forward to it."

Cars will hit the track at Mount Panorama for Practice 1 on Thursday October 6.

Tickets for the Repco Bathurst 1000 are available on Supercars.com and Ticketek.
