The first ever race at the Circuit of the Americas in Texas is about to kick off as part of the Austin 400. Fabian Coulthard starts from first on the grid, with Jamie Whincup alongside. The big question – will there be carnage at turn one?

Sorry for the delay – it's been an action-packed start to the race, with Scott McLaughlin turned around at the first corner and Engel off the road further down the track.

McLaughlin is now back out there but spent the first six laps in pit lane. Todd Kelly has received a black flag for loose bodywork, leaving him in 26th.

Whincup and Lowndes are now p1 and 2 on lap 10 of 27, after 888 got around Coulthard.

Post race investigation on an incident at turns 10 and 11 between Slade and Caruso.

Lowndes has set the quickest lap in the race with a 1min35.0971 on lap nine. Pit window is about to open.

L11 Whincup has pitted for two rear tyres. Coulthard, Will Davison, Tander and D'Alberto in behind.

Van Gisbergen is out of the car. Reportedly a misfiring engine.

L12 Winterbottom has eclipsed Webb after the Darrell Lea car had a slow pit stop.

L14 Bright running in third, though he hasn't stopped. Apparently running David Wall's setup after the car has struggled for pace this weekend.

Apologies for the delay – some tech issues.

L24 and Bright, Caruso and Pye yet to pit. Whincup continues to lead the race with Lowndes 2.3904sec behind.

Plenty of investigations annouced post-race: Lowndes for spinning wheels in pit lane, D'Alberto and Premat at turn 15.

The effective top five is Whincup, Lowndes, Coulthard, Will Davison, Tander.

One lap to go and the remaining three have served their compulsory pit stops.

Sorry for the delays – Whincup has won the race, ahead of Lowndes, Coulthard, Will Davison and Tander.

There's jsut a 40 min break until the afternoon's second race, Race 14 of the Championship. Whincup and Lowndes start from first and second on the grid.
