Kostecki keeps Race 5 win after investigation

An investigation has cleared Brodie Kostecki of an unsafe release at Albert Park, making his Race 5 victory official.

The Erebus Motorsport driver led the field home in Saturday’s Beaurepaires Melbourne SuperSprint race.

However, Kostecki's win remained under a cloud when it was revealed he had been placed under investigation.

Replays showed Kostecki being released into the path of Declan Fraser's #56 TRADIE Mustang after his pit stop.

A Motorsport Australian spokesperson advised Supercars.com that no further action will be taken over the incident.

It came just seconds after Bryce Fullwood had been released into the path of Fraser.

That incident somewhat helped Kostecki's cause, with the #99 Coca-Cola Camaro taking the chequered flag ahead of Will Davison and Fullwood.

Davison's #17 Shell V-Power Ford was also released into the path of Fullwood's #14 Middy's Camaro.

Davison and Fullwood were both penalised over their respective incidents, and were classified 11th and 12th respectively.

It promoted Shane van Gisbergen and Will Brown to the Race 5 podium behind Kostecki, who won Race 4 on Friday.

Red Bull Ampol Racing also avoided penalty after Davison hit a wheel which had been taken off van Gisbergen's car in pit lane.

Davison hit the wheel, which was sent towards the Formula 1 lane before bouncing into the path of points leader Chaz Mostert.

The Beaurepaires Melbourne SuperSprint will conclude with the 13-lap Race 6 at 10:25am local time on Sunday.
