The latest instalment of the Inside Line – A Season with Triple Eight will delve into the dramatic clashes between Shane van Gisbergen and Jamie Whincup.

The fifth episode of the highly anticipated series focuses on the intra-team rivalry between van Gisbergen and the retiring seven-time champion.

Viewers will be given never-before-seen insights into the Red Bull Ampol Racing teammates' most memorable tussles.

The story begins with their heated exchange in the closing laps of the 2010 Gold Coast 600.

It then offers insight into their synchronised spins at Pukekohe in 2016 during their first season as teammates.

The episode also recaps when the Bulls made contact in Townsville last year.

"I love the battle and I love the racing,” van Gisbergen says.

“But I knew it wasn’t going to be good when I got back to the truck, because of the team stuff.

“It’s a bit of a shame as I always loved battling [Whincup] until I joined the team, and we couldn’t battle like that anymore. Although we did.

“It’s been tense at times, but I think as teammates we have been pretty good and always pushing each other higher and higher.”

The episode also contains vision of the team’s off-track celebrations including a boat cruise on Sydney Harbour, and van Gisbergen’s post-championship winning night out with the squad.

The one-hour episode also follows Triple Eight Managing Director and Team Principal Roland Dane’s ethos on building a championship-winning team, as well as engineer Ludo Lacroix’s exit from the squad in 2016.

The one-hour episode will air on Fox Sports (Channel 506) at 7:30pm AEST.
